2009 was a busy year for Matt. He put out a collection of hard rock songs on itunes titled “Kiss This!” in May. He reconnected with fellow Hoosier, singer Lee Lowe in FLAVERBOX and is handling bass duties.
He’s working on a second cd titled “Family Matters”, which takes a personal look at Matt’s life and journeys over the years. He’s the proud daddy of a 2 and a half year old girl too...life couldn’t be better! Matt elaborates on “Family Matters”.
The process of recording this cd has been the most difficult thing I’ve willingly done in my life. The songs deal with deeply personal issues, emotional abuse, alcoholism, divorce, depression..all of which I’ve suffered from greatly over the years. Songs like “How R Things N Your World”, “N This Life” and “Is This?” will surely move you. I’m doing this record for myself first and foremost. I hope others can relate, maybe have had similiar stories and experiences like me. It’s tough to face issue like this, but I find it necessary.
Many have written asking me why I’m not doing a full on glam/hard rock record. Very simple. I wanted to show another side, one that is stripped down, very basic and honest. I plan on putting out more rock/metal/glam records of course, but I wanted
to share something with the listener.
The style and sound has been compared to
Elvis Costello, John Lennon, Bob Dylan and my fave 80’s group Enuff Znuff. There’s a lot of acoustic guitars, tamborines, and vocal harmonies. All tracks are written and recorded, and performed by Matt, except drums.
